Timber

Published on Updated on MAINTENANCE by Andie Herrera

Our timber furniture is constructed with different natural materials which includes, Teak, Merbau, Acacia and Karri Gum hardwood, which are extremely durable to use. Timber is very sturdy and weather resistant, it is characterised by high strength, hardness & resistant to warping, when cared and maintained correctly, across a wide variety of climates. The nature of timber is to expand and contract, depending on the varying temperature conditions. After a period of time, timber may show cracks and openings, especially in the end grains. These are natural characteristics of the material and do not affect the timber's strength or durability.

Cleaning & Maintenance

  • For regular cleaning, rinse gently with a garden hose (do not use a high-pressure hose on any timber products), dry the wood with a towel and let the sun dry any remaining moisture.
  • For stubborn stains, clean the surfaces and lightly sand with a fine sandpaper. Please make sure to work with the direction of the grain and not against the grain.
  • Apply Golden Care ® Hardwood Protector on the 100% air-dried and free of dust surfaces, to maintain for a longer term use, and to prevent black spots.
  • We suggest applying timber oil to your furniture 2-3 times a year. This process is not only guaranteed to preserve the colour, but also will help to reduce the natural fading process, and can help protect the timber from the elements.
  • Timber products will increase their longevity, if they are protected from the elements when not in use. We recommend storing the furniture under a covered area or use a furniture cover for protection.

Warning

  • Do not use a silicone-based cleaning products on any timber.
  • Do not drag the furniture, as dragging over uneven surfaces, may cause jolting, which may impact the integrity of the piece at the joints.
